Disappearing Trains?

Can trains disappear? This is something which seems to be a straightforward question with a simple answer: it’s impossible. Perhaps, as we witnessed with the horrific tragedy in Japan, where a tsunami was said to have taken a train with it, such an event seems plausible and believable. But, have trains disappeared on land, with no such extenuating circumstance? Cars, trucks, airplanes and even cruise ships have been reported missing, but trains?
