Appalachia Obscura began as Appalachian Gothic, a not-for-profit free ebook site. The site operated under the Laurawrites.net administration for several years. Laurawrites.net implemented a formal publishing system in 2011, and as a result, the ebooks were moved to such sites as Smashwords, Kindle, Createspace, and Nookpress.

It looked like there was no further use for the domain, but Laura Wright had other ideas. The website then became Appalachia Obscura. This new site is devoted to blogging on folklore, mythology, obscure history, and reviews. Wright occasionally posts a personal blog, which has its own category, but the site is mostly about preserving history and the lore of yesteryear.

Wright is open to interview requests, hosting guest bloggers, or consultation on all matters obscure. Feel free to use the contact page if you have questions or comments.
